Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic: FAQs.

Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic FAQs

My skin is super sensitive! Can I use Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic?

It’s often tricky to exfoliate sensitive skin types, as traditional AHAs like Glycolic Acid work too quickly and result in a stimulation response that a regular skin type wouldn’t experience. For our Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic, we chose to focus on Lactic Acid. Lactic Acid tends to be a larger molecule and therefore takes a little bit longer to work, so it essentially eliminates the skin’s AHA ‘shock’ that other AHA’s can trigger.

Everyone’s skin is different, and you can of course react to any natural ingredient depending on your personal, physiological make-up. So, we always recommend a patch test if you’re concerned about how your skin is going to react to a new formula. While tingling and a slight flush of color can be a normal reaction to AHAs and Vitamin C skincare products, redness and burning is not! If you experience redness or burning, we recommend you stop using the product, or try limiting AHA skincare use to once or twice a week and building up your usage gradually.

Can I use retinols at the same time as Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic?

Retin A will also stimulate cell turnover (and exfoliation), so it might be a case of too much of a good thing if you’re doing both. We recommend alternating your exfoliating products and giving your skin a day or two to settle before using retin A. Alternatively, if you are looking for compatible retinol-like results without irritation, try our Bio-Retinoid Concentrate Oil. Formulated without retinol, it uses potent, naturally-derived and clean bio-actives instead.

What if I over-do it on exfoliation?

If you have accidently over done it, scale back on all exfoliation & retinoids for at least a week or two, and add in calming products, like our Evercalm Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask, which can be used a few times a week until skin is restored!

My skin doesn't like glycolic acid. Is this a good alternative?

Absolutely! Our Ready Steady Glow contains Lactic Acid and skin friendly Azelaic Acid Precursor.  These are generally better tolerated on a more sensitive or sensitized skin.  While glycolic acid is super effective (we use it in our fast-working Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask), it is a smaller molecule and penetrates faster, which might be too speedy for a sensitive skin to adjust to.

Can I use Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic with the Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask on the same day?

As both products are exfoliants and we don’t want to over-exfoliate your skin, we’d recommend alternating between them. Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic is formulated to reveal your glow with daily use, while Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask gives you an instant glow when you need an extra boost. If your skin can usually tolerate AHA treatments, you might be able to handle Glycol Lactic Mask in the PM, and then use Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic in the AM. But only a few times per week.

Is Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic a toner? Where does this go in skincare routine?

Although it sits in your skincare routine where a clean beauty toner usually would (we use it in the same way), Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic also sits in the category of a liquid exfoliator and should be considered as another way to exfoliate.
